Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE)The Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education program is designed for individuals wanting to obtain a hunting license in British Columbia. The CORE program must be completed before obtaining their first hunting license. The purpose of the CORE program is to ensure that new hunters meet acceptable standards of knowledge and skill for safe and responsible hunting. CORE covers 6 required topics that form the basis for the CORE examinations: outdoor survival and safety, firearms safety, animal identification, bird identification, hunting law and regulations, hunter ethics. In addition, there are 2 informational chapter on freshwater fisheries, and ecology and wildlife management which are not examined within the course. The club teaches the course when they have enough interest. It has a full set of deactivated firearms for use during the pratical exam, and as well for the learning of safe handling of firearms. This course is taught free of charge to SCWA members only. A fee is payable to the BCWF for administration of the CORE program. | ||
